Calm bees and a swarm. Preparations for overwintering at Wimpole. Wendy Oakley reporting on the BBC hive at Wimpole Home Farm in south Cambridgeshire. Over the last few weeks, Pauline Aslin, my Bee Buddy, has started on preparations to create good conditions in the BBC hive for our bees to overwinter. The colony is small and docile. Just the brood box is in place with room for more stores. We will not be harvesting any honey this season.
